Devin Funck Update: Locals Donating to Help Boy Attacked by Alligator

My children returned from Tae Kwon Do class tonight to say that one of their classmates, who was absent, is Devin Funck's cousin, and so, the class took up a collection for Devin and his family. Devin is the 11-year-old Slidell, La., boy whose left arm was torn off up to the shoulder by an alligator dubbed "Big Joe".

The gator was reportedly almost 11-feet long. Deputies searched around Kingspoint last week after the attack to find the alligator and then cut Devin's arm from its belly.

Members of the martial arts class are not the only people who want to help Devin. According to the St. Tammany News and judging by the updates on television stations of his condition, Devin's tragedy has prompted an outpouring of concern and gifts.
An account in Devin’s name has been set up at Capital One Bank, and those wishing to make donations can visit any branch to do so. Aamco Transmissions locations in Covington, Slidell and Metairie will make a matching donation up to a certain percentage that has yet to be determined. (STN)
A New Orleans TV station reports Devin's condition as stable. As reported earlier in this blog, doctors at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans were not able to reattach the arm. ESPN also has an August 1 story on Devin.

Hey. I've been following the Devin story as well. I talked about it in my online book this week... I hope I wasn't too mean.
