Tina Fey as Palin on Couric: Katie, I'd Like to Use a Lifeline

I'm trying to determine what's funnier, Tina Fey impersonating Sarah Palin on SNL last night and mocking the Republican VP nominee's performance during the Katie Couric interview or the genuine Palin/Couric interview. I read a comment on another blog and the person asked of Palin's performance with Couric, "Is English her second language?"

Below is SNL video from September 27, and following the clip I've included another clip from the actual interview featuring the real Palin and Couric.

Here's video of the real Sarah Palin on Russia during her interview with Katie Couric.

HuffPo has another clip showing Palin's response on the economic bailout.

After winning two Emmys for Third Rock and fielding questions about her first Palin impersonation, Tina Fey's reported to have said that she hopes she doesn't have to reprise her Palin role after the election in November. Yeah, let's all hope that Palin fades away after November 4.

So, are we with this election and Palin's nomination playing some bizarre version of "Who Wants to Be A Millionaire?" as "Who wants to be the Vice President?" After watching Palin (not Fey's impersonation but Palin herself), I think the Alaska Governor could use some lifelines. She should "dial a friend" because she needs all the help she can get to answer questions about foreign policy and the economy, which is, I guess, why the McCain camp keeps shielding her from the media.
