Jennifer Hudson's Loss Is Breaking My Heart

jennifer hudson nephew julianUntil now I haven't been able to write anything about the tragedy facing Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson. The bodies of Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, and brother, Jason Hudson, were found in her mother's home on Chicago's south side Friday. They had been shot to death. It's heartbreaking.

And then when I heard about her missing 7-year-old nephew, Julian King, I thought this is bitterly unbearable. It's unclear whether police think Julian may have witnessed the murders.
Police issued an Amber Alert for Julian and asked residents to look out for a 1994 white Chevrolet Suburban with Illinois license plate X584859.

Julian is described as being 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. He was wearing a striped brown polo shirt and khaki pants when last seen, authorities said in the Amber Alert. (CNN)
Here's the latest video from CNN in which the reporter says the murders may be the result of a domestic violence incident. Police appear to suspect Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law, William Balfour. He is Julian King's stepfather and the husband of Julia Balfour, Hudson's sister.

What can you do in a situation like this but pray? If it's the husband and stepfather, then that's a horrible tragedy that no family wants to face. If a stranger committed the murders then it's still a horrible tragedy that you wish no one ever had to face.

My heart goes out to Jennifer Hudson, her sister, and the entire Hudson family, including William Balfour's mother, who is in a different video at CNN declaring her son's innocence, following the first instinct of any mother. She's also asking that the Chicago Police Department "stop harassing" her family and friends because the police "don't know the real truth," she said.

I pray for young Julian's safe return.
