Plot Thwarted to Assassinate Obama and Kill African Americans

You had to see this coming, monsters. CNN Headline News reports that federal agents have foiled a skinhead plot to kill 102 African-Americans and culminate its rage with the assassination of Barack Obama, the first African-American to come close to being the President of the United States of America. Authorities doubt the two men charged had the means to carry out their plans, however. They met through hate channels on the Net.

CNN's news brief is at this link, and ABC 7 Chicago has video. Other sources report that the ATF is the federal agency that thwarted the neo-nazi's conspiracy.

In my post on Colin Powell on Obama and Voting While Black, I talked about assassination threats, how the Obamas handle the fears and how some African-Americans have been afraid to support Obama because they fear his assassination. I explained to one elderly black woman with this concern that if we need to escape a dark house and must pass through the darkest room to reach a light switch, then somebody's got to go first. Obama is the one for this trial.

Update, 11:30 PM CST: ABC News reports that Obama was not told about the plot while the ATF investigated. Also, I forgot to include in my earlier post this grisly detail, the skinheads wanted to use decapitation as one of their methods to kill African Americans. Just goes to show you that skinheads and crackheads have something in common, bizarre thinking.

Update, 1:25 AM, CST, 10/28: More details from an AP story posted at HuffPo.
Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville, Tenn., field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives, said authorities took the threats very seriously.

"They said that would be their last, final act _ that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama," Cavanaugh said. "They didn't believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying."

He added: "They seemed determined to do it. Even if they were just to try it, it would be a trail of tears around the South."

An ATF affidavit filed in the case says (Daniel) Cowart and (Paul) Schlesselman told investigators the day they were arrested they had shot at a glass window at Beech Grove Church of Christ, a congregation of about 60 black members in Brownsville, Tenn. (story here)
The two criminals, ages 18 and 20, planned to shoot black students at schools, reports the AP.

I saw the story on earlier tonight. That is sickening, chilling, disgusting... words are not adequate.

I like to pretend people like this only exist in the movies. News stories like this are like a nightmare coming true.
