Joan and Melissa Rivers Blow Up on Celebrity Apprentice

I couldn't sleep last night, and so I watched Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice on demand, and Trump fired Melissa Rivers. Then Melissa and her mother, comedienne Joan Rivers, had a meltdown that seemed pretty real to me as it had been building for weeks.

Joan and her daughter spewed venom all over poker champ Annie Duke and Playboy pinup Brande Roderick. Joan called Duke a Nazi and Roderick a "stupid blonde" being manipulated by Duke. I think Melissa, while refusing to be interviewed, called the two women "whore pit vipers," and Joan told Duke that poker players are worse than white trash and that Duke takes blood money.

Melissa felt the two women conspired against her and made her feel like she was back in high school trying to fit in with the popular girls. I don't know that they got together and planned anything, but what I can say is that Duke played Melissa and Brande like a fresh deck of cards, one of the accusations tossed at Duke repeatedly, that she's calculating.

If it was acting, then the Rivers women deserve Emmys. Read the story at the Kansas City Star, and watch the video clip above.

What a soap opera! Do you think it was real or acting? I think Donald, Ivanka, and what's his face in the boardroom are acting, and I know for a fact that reality shows are rigged, but I think Joan and Melissa are really angry here.

I refuse to watch any more apprentice shows, Donald's time in reality TV is over. Joan Rivers has been crazy for years!! She better sit down somewhere before she springs a leak and shoots Botox everywhere!

Ah, so, Regina. You don't think she was acting either. You think she really did go postal. :-)

Acting or not - I found Melissa's exit in poor taste and if this was what was asked of her for a ratings pull she showed poor judgment in agreeing to put herself in this light.

It's a game folks - ya'll knew what you were getting into and what to expect either way!

I'm a Jesse fan - I'm rootin' for the biker guy to win - booyah!

What!? How did I miss this? I knew I missed a couple episodes, but this sounds classic. Thanks, I'll have to check out On Demand for this.

Pop, didn't they seem mentally unstable? I think they may be too co-dependent.

Shae, I forget to watch it and when I saw this one I really couldn't believe it. I know reality TV is usually not reality at all but orchestrated, but this ending with Joan and Melissa was outrageous. I don't think they'll top it with the rest of the season, even though Clint Black seems a little nutty too.
