Naked Pole Dancing in New York Subways

The following CNN video let me know how out of touch I am with what goes on in the Big Apples these days. Jeanne Moos reports on naked pole dancing in the subways as well as something else I had not heard of before, pole riders. They are pole dancers from Poleriders.net who keep their clothes on and pole dance while someone drives them around on modified bicycles. People throw money at them, according to the report, and men have been known to run out of bars when they see the polerider bikes going by.

Also in the video is a photographer who takes shots of nude people in very public places. The trick, he says, is to get the shot done in a few seconds before the police show up.

Pole Dancing from Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity as seen on The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien. My adult daughter, 28, saw this and said she didn't find it sexy. She thinks more clothes is sexier. I reminded her that neither one of us is male. I also said, "Hmm. Looks like the Cirque du Soleil people got up one day and said, 'Let's put the rest of the pole dancers to shame.'"

What is this? Lord...

Do you feel like we are quickly falling into the pit? I know I do...

I feel like I'm going through the Twilight Zone some days. What we're seeing lately is similar to decadence rising with the Fall of Rome. Hmm. Yeah, kind of pit like.

Having been a resident of NYC before leaving for college. I must say that none of this surprises me. Now, over the years they have cleaned up the city somewhat. But hey, it's still the Big Apple where anything is possible.

Any and everything happens in NYC. I did find some humor in some of it. Wouldn't mind having the flexibility of the Cirque de Soleil performers but otherwise - I don't find this stuff appealing. I tend no worry more about pollution, healthcare crisis, our continuing to find war a solution, violence, etc., more of a concern than "decadence" which is certainly in the eye of the beholder. I would take a vote for privacy nonetheless.

Rippa, yeah. I know. I used to live in NJ and now I live in New Orleans which is the original sin city, my home town.

Candelaria, I think it's decadence. When people are naked giving lap dances to strangers, uh, if that's not decadence what is? Now, do I care about it enough to protest it? NO. Do I think naked people on the subway have anything to do with me? NO. Do I think talking about naked people on the subway is good for some easy blog hits while still falling within the realm of what I don't mind talking about. YES. :-) Especially on the weekend when nobody's reading my blog anyway. LOL.
