Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream: Hubby Hubby for Gay Marriage

Aside from producing great ice cream, the folks at Ben & Jerry's keep putting their money where their mouths are when it comes to social issues, from paying a living wage to this deed--showing support for the start of gay marriage in Vermont by renaming its Chubby Hubby ice cream flavor to "Hubby Hubby" for a while.
"At the core of Ben & Jerry's values, we believe that social justice can and should be something that every human being is entitled to," Walt Freese, Ben & Jerry's chief executive, said in a news release. (SPI)
The company made the announcement today. From Serious Eats:
A Hubby Hubby sundae will be available in Vermont Ben & Jerry's scoop shops during the month of September.

The Chubby Hubby packaging in grocery stores nationwide will remain unchanged and as heteronormative as ever.

Lesbians, sorry: No "Wifey Wifey" for you. (S.E.)
I saw this story as a trending topic on Twitter and checked it out not only because it's intriguing but also because my son tried to persuade me to go to Ben & Jerry's in Metairie earlier today. Actually he said Edy's in Gretna and then I said, why not B&J in Metairie. He was like, "What! I didn't know there was a B&J there." He did but he forgot. We didn't go but I had 'em on the brain when I saw this story climb in tweets.

Deb on the Rocks has a funny post on this news, reminding "good" lefties that while they may be boycotting Whole Foods, they can eat Ben & Jerry's new flavor, and then she says she's going to take her label maker and rename some other Ben & Jerry flavors:
Everything But The... IS NOW Everyone is Gay

Coffee, Coffee, BuzzBuzzBuzz...IS NOW Lesbian, Lesbian BuzzBuzzBuzz

Neopolitan Dynamite...IS NOW Being Queer is Dynamite. (Read more)
She also says she loves eating for the common good.

And changing so fast. I wonder what the world will look like 20 years from now.
