OSF: Freshman, er, woman, 1973

Todays Old School Friday theme is Freshman year. I wasn't sure if the meme creators meant college or high school, but I thought about doing college. High school won.

Two female songwriter singers had hit songs in 1973 carrying into 1974. My first choice is "Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack, and the second is "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon. I still play both when the mood hits me.

Here's Carly. I must've known a lot of stuck up guys because I loved this song. :-)

But there was one song that I danced to a lot, and that was Stevie Wonder's "Superstition." Yes. Can't leave out Stevie. And here he is on Sesame Street.

The creators of the Old School Friday meme are Mrs. Grapevine and Marvalus at Conversations with Marva and has these rules, if you want to join this theme party.

Wonderful picks, Nordette. Killing Me Softly ('71) I remember so well from my senior year in high school. It was also used wonderfully in a couple of movie soundtracks that are favorites of mine: Play Misty For Me and as a throwback hit for The Best of Times ('85). Thanks for this.

You've got some heavy hitters this week. Roberta is amazing and I always did like this Carly song, plus you can't go wrong with Stevie. Happy OSF!
