OMG! She's Doing NanoWriMo

While I've been petrified to admit it, I confess now that I am indeed participating in NanoWriMo. That's National Novel Writing Month for you uninitiated. Yes, I am trying to put a stop to my constant refrain, "One day, I'm going to write a novel," in the most positive way possible, by just doing it. I am joined to the throng trying to produce a 50,000-word book in 30 days.

File this under my other novel writing posts such as "Omphaloskepsis for the Midlife Writer: Finish Your Novel," parts 1 and 2 or even "For Tweetsake, I'm in a New Media Writer's Funk."

I almost signed up for this round. I signed up for it last year and talked myself out of it. This year I decided to bypass it and just continue to work on my draft. So far it has been a decent experience.

Hi Nordette,

You know I think the world (that is, I hope you do) of your writing talent. I've often found myself encouraged and inspired by something you've written.

I first heard about NaNoWritMo last year, so I think it's a worthy endeavor. A 7,500 word short story is a huge undertaking for me but then, I am a beginning writer.

Your words speak with the voice of passion, conviction and sincerity and I congratulate you on this seventh day of NaNoWriMo.

All the best,

U
