Name that Ism: Poem

Name that Ism
By Nordette N. Adams

Just as
some, who by blood inherit the privilege
to shun discomfort,
may opt to "see no color,"
I have opted out
of revelations of rage.

But
anger made occult is not an honest woman's peace.
Dissembling in grief
cloaks for a while
the lamb-skinned wolf.

Just as a secret kept reveals its keepers
in cracks between words,
in unanticipated glints of sun,
in hurricane politics,
I have become the other shoe
that drops.

It's my privilege as a woman in
mysterious blackness.

Just as
Justice
is not
in truth
blind
and love
is only true
wearing
glasses.
