Richard Pryor to Paul Mooney to Barack Obama: First Black President

Comedian Paul Mooney's memoir, Black is the New White is in bookstores now. People who love comedy should recognize Mooney as a comedian who delivers edgy, sometimes painfully piercing political satire. Born in Shreveport, La., in 1941, he lived through the later part of government-sanctioned racial segregation and the turbulent era of integration. So, it's not surprising his comedy routines often address racism head on.
