Candice Glover amazes audience on 'Idol' with The Cure's 'Lovesong' (Video)

I've said before that Candice Glover is too good for American Idol. I mean that I'd buy her CD right now, especially if she has tracks on it like her rendition of the Cure's "Lovesong." She slayed that song tonight on Ido, seeming to draw on Adele's version of the song but throwing in some Jill Scott flavor. Whatever or whomever Candice drew on tonight, she conjured magic, or as Keith Urban, people got "religion" during her performance. Candice Glover owned this song, singing it more in a jazz style, filling it with soul, with duende.

I clapped aloud in my house and then I cried, neither of which I do easily these days. Urban bowed before her, and Mariah Carey showered her with glitter. In the end, Randy Jackson declared her performance to be the best in Idol's history, and then he amended that to "best ever on any talent show on television." He may be right. Amazing.

The only bad thing to happen during her performance was the weird, creepy voice that interrupted her that sounded like someone yelling "love you."

I've posted Adele's version below.

And here's The Cure's version. You'll see by watching all three how Adele and The Cure arranged the song and how much more Candice Glover changed it.
